Grass Fed Beef
From Our Farm to Your Table
We raise a small herd of beef cattle on our pastures in Sunapee, New Hampshire. We raised beef cattle for many years, but in 2016 we started our own Belted Galloway breeding herd. The breed is often referred to as ‘Oreo Cookie Cows’ by fans or ‘Belties’ by breeders. Belted Galloways were developed in the Galloway District of Scotland known for its rugged and hilly seacoast, more information can be found here. We are excited to see our herd grow!
Interested in our Genetics? Visit Digital Beef to explore our herd and pedigrees. Our current herd has lineage from Otokahe Farm (NH), Holbrook Hill Farm (NH), Aldermere Farm (ME), Meadow View Farm (VT), Deer Brook Farm (ME), Marbens Farm (CT), Floodwoods Farm (VT), Pine View Farm (ME), Caleamont Farm (VT), and Mitchell Ledge Farm (formerly ME). Our current herd bull is Holbrook Hill Lord Voldemort whose pedigree goes back to the British bull, Boreland James Bond.
Why Grass Fed?
While there are many ways to raise cattle, our farm is best suited for them to rotationally graze our pastures throughout the spring, summer, and fall. We feed good quality hay and 'baleage' (fermented hay) throughout the winter. Our cattle have 24/7 access to the outdoors and appropriate shelter during inclement weather. We believe in grass fed beef because it tastes great, and it has been shown to have less total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, and calories than conventionally raised beef.
Where to purchase
We offer retail cuts throughout the year directly from the farm by appointment.
We also have open hours at the sugarhouse every weekend during the Maple Season (Mar-Apr) or our Annual December Holiday Open Sugarhouse.
We sell in larger quantities at a discounted price (usually by the whole or half cow). Bulk Orders are currently SOLD OUT, but you can contact us for information and be added to our waiting list.
Where else can you try our beef? You can find it on the menu at Fenton's Landing and Hoptimystic Brewing in Sunapee Harbor - enjoy the Harding Hill Wrap, made with our beef chorizo, or a Smash Burger. The Appleseed Restaurant in Bradford also features a Harding Hill Burger.
